“It was the bottom of the ninth and we were tied. The opposing team was our arch rival and we had not beaten them in 4 years. This was my last chance to end the drought.

“I studied the pitcher, I looked for any sign that would tell me what to expect. He had already thown 3 fastballs that I managed to foul off. His off speed pitches missed the plate. So here I was, with every eye watching, I couldn't afford to strike out. Everyone was cheering me to win but more importantly, everyone was hoping, even praying that we wouldn't lose.
